As a registered dietitian and spokesperson for National Dairy Council, Isabel Maples, M.Ed., R.D. translates nutrition research into healthier food choices. Isabel is convinced that most people want to eat better, as long as food is still convenient, tasty, and practical. That’s why she keeps food fun, not fanatical—and focuses on small changes that add up to big benefits.
Isabel is experienced in working with the media, using everyday language and foods to help the public understand how to eat better. She is an ambassador for National Dairy Council, a former Virginia Dietetic Association state media chair, and a nutrition communicator for Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. She has been interviewed by many local and national television stations, radio shows, newspapers and magazines.
Isabel has experience in practically all areas of dietetics and is comfortable working with various age groups, income levels and ethnic groups. Her areas of expertise include the many health benefits of dairy foods. She is also an authority on childhood and teen obesity. She is certified by the American Dietetic Association in both adult and childhood/adolescent Weight Management. The New York State Department of Health certified her as a HEART RD. Her master’s degree is in sports nutrition and wellness from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her undergraduate degree is in public health nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also completed a dietetic internship with Penrose Hospitals in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
