Dietary Guidance

The 2010 Guidelines emphasizes a total diet approach, urging Americans to reduce calories and watch portion sizes; make more nutrient-dense choices, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat or fat-free milk and milk products; and move more. In its role at the forefront of nutrition research and education, National Dairy Council has long embraced the notion that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to nutrition and there are numerous ways to meet important nutrient needs, a concept reflected in the 2010 Guidelines.

See below for meal plans, fact sheets and resources about dairy’s place in the Guidelines, as well as additional information on the nutrition science surrounding the recommendations.
