Michelle May, MD
Michelle May, M.D., F.A.A.F.P. is the founder and Medical Director of Am I Hungry?, P.L.L.C., a multidimensional weight management program in Phoenix, Arizona. This program received the 2005 Patient Care Excellence in Patient Education Innovation Award. She is also the award winning author of "Am I Hungry? What To Do When Diets Don't Work" and co-author of "H is for Healthy...Weight Management for Kids."
She is a Board Certified in Family Medicine and has been very active in the American Academy of Family Physicians, serving as President of the Arizona Academy of Family Physicians, as Chairperson for the AAFP Subcommittee on Women, and as an Alternate Delegate and Delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. She is an advisor for the AAFP Americans in Motion fitness initiative and served on the Arizona Department of Health Services Obesity Prevention Program Healthcare Workgroup. She is also co-chair of the AAFP Women’s Health Care Conference and serves on Action for Health Kids and the Away from Home Foods Obesity Prevention Forum and numerous other committees and panels addressing the epidemic of obesity.
Dr. May was featured in the Discovery Health Channel special, “Adult Obesity: Reversing the Trend” sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control. She has spoken to thousands of individuals and health care professionals on non-diet weight management using a cognitive-behavioral approach.
