Learn more about child nutrition and the role of dairy in schools:

General Nutrition & Health
Milk, cheese and yogurt are naturally nutrient-rich foods essential for children’s growth and development. A report by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) encourages pediatricians to regularly assess children's calcium intake and recommends calcium from dairy foods.
Nutrition in Schools
The New Look of School Milk program has made serving milk in plastic single-serve cartons "cool." Several factors influence children's decisions to consume milk, including the availability of soft drinks and participation in school feeding programs, among others. Every school district participating in the federal meal program has developed and must have in place a wellness policy for nutrition education, physical activity and nutrition standards.
MyPyramid for Kids
The USDA recently unveiled MyPyramid for Kids, a child-friendly version of the MyPyramid Food Guidance System. This version is intended to reach children 6 to 11 years old with targeted messages about the importance of making smart eating and physical activity choices.
