Ann Marie Krautheim is senior vice president of nutrition affairs for the National Dairy Council (NDC) and serves as a national media spokesperson for the dairy industry. She is responsible for health professional partnerships, as well as the development and execution of national nutrition communications and medical outreach programs. As a registered dietitian, Krautheim works to translate nutrition research into usable action items for consumer and health professional audiences.
In June 2006 Krautheim was awarded the prestigious “Anita Owen Recognition Award” from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) for Innovative Nutrition Education Programs for the public, which encourages the development of, and recognizes excellence in, programs and services that strive for overall promotion of health to reach nutrition and physical fitness goals and the prevention of disease overall. Krautheim was chosen for her efforts on behalf of the award-winning 3-A-Day of Dairy Health and Wellness Campaign, for which she directs the nutrition education components as well as collaborative efforts with leading health professional organizations including the ADA, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics and National Medical Association.
Before joining the NDC, Krautheim served as director of communications and medical programs for the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council Mid-East, based in Ohio. In that role, she communicated dairy nutrition messages to health professionals and to consumers through various media outlets. Krautheim has actively served on the boards of state and regional dietetic associations throughout her career. In 1995 her accomplishments were recognized by the ADA and Ohio Dietetic Association when she received the “Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year” award. Currently, she is a member of the ADA and serves on the corporate relations committee for the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation.
Krautheim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in medical dietetics from Ohio State University and a Master of Arts in communication from University of Delaware, where she conducted research on the impact of television news messages on consumer beverage choices.
She is the mother of two boys, ages 4 and 7.
