Isabel Maples is a registered dietitian and spokesperson for the National Dairy Council (NDC). As communications manager at Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and a former state media representative for the Virginia Dietetic Association, Maples has been an expert source for more than 150 media interviews in the Washington, D.C. area and has a monthly cooking segment, “Mid-Day Gourmet” on the ABC affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa.
Maples belongs to several local, state and national professional organizations, including Food and Culinary Professionals and the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Maples is certified in adult, adolescent and childhood weight management with the ADA and certified as a heart R.D. by the New York State Department of Health. Maples strives to translate dietary recommendations into everyday language, offering practical tips for improving food choices.
Maples holds a Bachelor of Science degree in public health nutrition from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a Master of Education degree in sports nutrition and wellness from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed a nutrition internship at Penrose Hospitals in Colorado Springs, Colo.
When she is not busy talking about nutrition, Maples enjoys entertaining with family and friends and is very involved in her children’s sports, youth group and other activities. Despite the daily demands of work and family, Maples tries to make frequent family meals with her husband and three busy children a priority.
