Stephanie Smith, M.S., R.D. Western Dairy Council and Western Dairy Farmer's Promotion Association
Registered dietitian Stephanie Smith is a spokesperson for the National Dairy Council. Stephanie has completed more than 100 print and TV interviews on nutrition-related topics such as the DASH diet, obesity and weight management, sports nutrition, importance of calcium and dairy foods for health, women's health issues, healthy holiday eating and the importance of breakfast for brainpower.
Before joining the National Dairy Council, Stephanie taught introductory and sports nutrition classes at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has also served as a consultant to an employee wellness program, conducted weight management classes and worked with competitive athletes. Stephanie has a Master of Science degree in food science and nutrition and a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics from Colorado State University. Throughout her career, Stephanie has been active in the Colorado Dietetic Association, serving on the board of directors and in 1999 she received the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year award.
Through her experience in nutrition education, Stephanie has the ability to communicate the latest nutrition information to a variety of audiences from consumers to health professionals. Stephanie's goal is to provide the community, health professionals, educators and the media with a balanced view of current nutrition issues grounded in sound scientific information.
In her free time, Stephanie is an avid triathlete and tennis player. She also enjoys hiking and snow shoeing the Colorado Mountains with her husband Steve and golden retrievers, Caesar and Hannah.
