Kristin Ritzenthaler, Ph.D Idaho Dairy Council and United Dairymen of Idaho
Dr. Kristin Ritzenthaler is a nutrition consultant for the Idaho Dairy Council, where she is responsible for the development and execution of nutrition education programs, communications, and health/medical outreach programs throughout Idaho. Before joining the Idaho Dairy Council, Kristin worked as a research assistant at Washington State University where she finished her educational journey from her bachelor to her doctorate in December 2002. During her 6 years of graduate work, Kristin researched the health benefits in adults, including breastfeeding women, of a rare, but potent anti-carcinogenic fatty acid found primarily in dairy products, namely conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
Kristin has presented her research at national meetings, published her master's work in the Journal of Nutrition and is currently in the process of submitting part of her PhD work also to the Journal of Nutrition. In addition, Kristin has co-authored a chapter in one of the only CLA books published to date. Kristin joined the Idaho Dairy Council in September 2003, after taking time with her newborn daughter.
In her free time, Kristin, a native to Germany, enjoys time with her family. In addition, she loves the outdoors and having been a former world-class athlete, she is very passionate about running.
