Missouri
Margie Cook-Graham, R.D., L.D. St. Louis District Dairy Council
Margie Cook is a registered and licensed dietitian through the American Dietetic Association. She is a Senior Nutrition Educator with St. Louis District Dairy Council, a nonprofit nutrition education organization. At Dairy Council, she has helped to develop and test five food group-based nutrition programs and materials targeted to area health professionals, educators, school food service staff and consumers.
Cook also has completed extensive media training and is experienced in communicating nutrition messages to radio and television audiences in the St. Louis metropolitan area. She has completed more than 200 radio and more than 100 television interviews.
As a former competitive gymnast, diver and dancer, Cook has a strong back-ground in physical fitness, including 10 years of coaching experience. She is a frequent guest speaker for area gymnastics clubs and dance academies, providing nutrition lectures for athletes, coaches and parents.
Cook holds a B.A. degree in English from the University of Kansas, a B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Fontbonne University, and has completed internship and graduate coursework in Medical Dietetics through the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Susan Hanley St. Louis District Dairy Council
Susan Hanley is the Director of Programs and Communication for the St. Louis District Dairy Council and has been responsible for directing the nutrition education and communications programs for the past 11 years.
Before joining SLDDC Hanley was the Manager of Product Publicity for ConAgra Foods Company. She was responsible for the marketing public relations programs for ConAgra's frozen food company and was the company's media spokesperson.
Hanley also worked for Campbell's Soup Company as the Communications Coordinator for the Microwave Information Center where she served as their spokesperson and developed cookbooks and brochures for consumers.
She holds a bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition with a certificate in Vocational Education. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the St. Louis Culinary Society and has received various awards in the food communications area throughout her career.
Stephanie Cundith, M.S., R.D., L.D. Midwest Dairy Association
Stephanie Cundith is a consumer communications program manager for the Midwest Dairy Council, where she conducts television, radio and print interviews and serves as a liaison to health professionals in Kansas and Missouri. As a registered dietitian, Stephanie provides accurate, scientific and practical information on the benefits of dairy nutrition.
Stephanie holds an undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and a master’s degree in nutrition from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She completed her dietetic internship at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Prior to joining the Midwest Dairy Council, Stephanie worked for a health and weight management company, where she coached people on making lifestyle changes, including improved nutrition, fitness and overall health. She also served as a spokesperson to the Wichita community, delivering health messages to the media, business corporations and health professionals. Before this, Stephanie managed the dietary services of a hospital and nursing home, and worked as a WIC dietitian, providing nutrition counseling to low-income women, infants and children.
Stephanie is certified in Adult Weight Management from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and is a member of the ADA, as well as the Wichita District Dietetic Association.
Mary M. Thompson, M.S. St. Louis District Dairy Council
Mary M. Thompson earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a Nutrition Educator for St. Louis District Dairy Council, managing the Columbia office and serving the surrounding counties.
She serves as Dairy Council's Missouri Information Coordinator, and her responsibilities include planning, preparing, and presenting programs in the area of nutrition education.
Before joining Dairy Council, Thompson served on the faculty at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Foods Systems Management. While living in St. Louis, Mo, she also served on the faculties of St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley and Fontbonne College.
Thompson presents workshops and programs for local, regional, and state organizations such as Head Start, Parents as Teachers, the Association for Education of the Young Child, Association of Elementary School Principals, Dietary Managers, and School Food Service. She appears regularly on local radio and television programs.
