  • Join National Dairy Council at Future of Food 2013
    National Dairy Council, Dairy Good, Feeding America, Secretary Tom Vilsack and other leading experts will come together on Wednesday, May 22 to discuss expanding a healthy, sustainable food system. Conversation will include highlighting technological innovations that make food more affordable and nutritious and examining the private-public partnerships that are at the forefront of the sustainable movement. Additionally, prior to and during the event, Capital Area Food Bank will collaborate with the conference partners to manage a virtual food drive, aimed at securing access to nutrient-rich foods from the local community.     The Wellness Impact: Enhancing Academic Success Through Healthy School Environments  report was recently released to highlight the “Learning Connection” – the science-based concept that improved nutrition, including breakfast, coupled with physical activity can help lead to better academic performance. The report, produced by National Dairy Council, in partnership with GENYOUth Foundation, American College of Sports Medicine and American School Health Association, serves as a launch pad to ignite the conversation about how all sectors of society can work together to create an atmosphere where children have the knowledge, options, and opportunities to help them  reach their full potential.​​​​​​
