Julie Hess, Ph.D.(c), was the Nutrition Research intern for National Dairy Council during the 2016 summer. In this role, she is learned effective ways to translate and communicate nutrition research. Julie earned her Bachelors of Arts in French and English from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Nutrition at the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses include the role of dairy foods in healthy eating patterns and the impact of mushroom consumption on the gut microbiota. Her academic advisor is Joanne Slavin Ph.D., RD.
